Designing the home of Creative Technology
SYDNEY
PROECT: WEBSITE DESIGN
ROLE: LEAD DESIGNER
S1T2 is where I spent six years of my career in Sydney, Australia, and where I was introduced to creative technology. Projects were wide-ranging, and every day was a fun new adventure. It was an honour to try and capture this feeling in a website they could call home.
It is quite unique to work at a creative company whose work spans so many different industries and design outputs. We wanted to show all of these projects, and with very detailed case studies, our portfolio page became a kind of matrix, moving vertically through categories while also spanning horizontally across them.
We wanted to create a wiki of creative technology. Taking inspiration from institutions such as MIT, we wanted you to scroll through pages, click on hot boxes of information, follow hyperlinks that give you more context, and explore scrapbooks of our behind the scenes process.
We leaned into long form case studies created in an editorial style. We created a hierarchy of typography so people could scan through moments, used light and dark backgrounds for different reflections, and carefully considered the opening and transition of videos and imagery to create an immersive case study that people could happily scroll through.
With experimental creative technology at the heart of what we do, and what people want to see from us, the homepage became a canvas for our creative director and wider team to create a selection of small interactive experiences spanning story, audio, and visual playfulness.
